- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion finely diced
- 3 cloves of garlic minced
- 1 can tomatoes paste
- 1 can diced tomatoes or 4 fresh tomatoes (diced)
- 1/2 red bell pepper
- 1/2 green bell pepper
- 1 lb macaroni or any pasta
- olive oil to fry
Spices
- salt
- black and white pepper
- paprika
- stock cube
- oregano
- thyme
- rosemary
Boil pasta
- Boil a large pot of water and add a large table spoon of salt. The water should be a bit salty.
- Cook pasta according to packet MINUS 2 minutes.
Make sauce
- Add some oil to a pan and sauté onion and garlic till both are golden brown and fragrant
- Add tomatoes paste and canned tomatoes and let it cook on for 10 minutes or till it reduces .
- Add ground beef and let it cook till brown. Season with salt, pepper, oregano, thyme, rosemary, bayleaf and 1 stock cube. Then add bell peppers to the sauce and let it cook for an additional 5 minutes
- At this point you should drain your macaroni reserving some of that pasta water. Then transfer the macaroni to the sauce
- Toss gently with a wooden spoon for 2 minutes and if you find that the sauce is too thick then add a pasta water till you reach you desired consistency.
